Home Made Vege Pasties

Standard

Yesterday I decided to try something that I have been wanting to for a long time. Puff Pastry! I have never made it before. In actual fact this is rough puff wholemeal pastry that I used for this recipe. I have this wonderful book from the library at the moment about pie making from scratch and they have every type of pastry you can think of in that book with very simple instructions. I have not had one failure yet.

My hubby loves pies, what mean doesn’t?  And I used to make him pies all the time to take for lunch but I got into a bad habit of using bought pastry. Eventually I decided that that wasn’t very healthy at all. And it can be quite expensive!

I have been pleasantly surprised at just how easy it is to make your own pastry, if a little time consuming. It is totally worth it though.

Here are some pictures of the little pies I made yesterday.

  1. Making puff pastry is quite a mission! It takes so much better than bought pastry, but I don’t think I would tackle it again. I used o make it years ago. What sort of vege filling did you make?

    • Lovely to see you here!! Well, the recipe I used was surprisingly easy and I will definitely make it again! The filling recipe was a pasty filling but I didn’t like how it turned out so next time I’m going to try something out!
